AEG Facilities & SMG Merge

AEG Facilities and SMG owner Onex announced that the two largest venue managers are combining to create ASM Global, the world's biggest facility management company with more than 300 venues under contract. AEG Facilities President and CEO Bob Newman will lead the newly created firm, while SMG CEO Wes Westley joins ASM's board of directors. The deal represents a significant shift in the venue space, combining the two firms with the largest market share in one monolithic entity that now represents NFL stadiums, NBA arenas and convention centers with new access to AEG's resources including its global touring unit.

PSAV to Acquire Encore Event Technologies

PSAV, a Schiller Park, Illinois-based event planner and portfolio company of Blackstone Group LP, has agreed to acquire Las Vegas, Nevada-based Encore Event Technologies from The Freeman Company. The combination of PSAV and Encore will join two companies with deep expertise and a shared commitment to be an invaluable global partner for the meeting industry. The transaction is expected to be finalized later this year.

Environmental Management Specialists Acquired by HEPACo

HEPACO, LLC, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based provider of environmental and emergency response services, acquired Environmental Management Specialists, a Cleveland, Ohio-based provider of emergency response, remediation, and environmental services. The combined company will now have more than 685 employees and a footprint of over 40 locations across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Northeast regions in addition to the ability to respond to emergencies on a national basis through its managed network of third-party emergency response vendors.

Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has acquired Lobster Ink, a leading provider of end-to-end online customer training solutions. Addressing customers’ growing need for effective training, this acquisition combines Lobster Ink’s innovative customer training capabilities and digital platform with Ecolab’s expertise in food safety, hygiene, water management and public and planet health.
