I joined Harris Williams in 2000 to learn how to do sell-side M&A. I chose the firm for its scrappy, entrepreneurial culture and its commitment to excellence. I chose Richmond because I knew an M&A career would require hard work, and Richmond’s easy lifestyle and access to the outdoors provides the perfect escape. 20+ years later, my career is still fast-paced, but I get to slow down by enjoying all the Richmond area has to offer in and around its woods and waters with my wife, three kids, and two dogs. It's been incredible to be part of building a global M&A platform that is second-to-none.

Cheairs Porter is a managing director at Harris Williams, serving as co-head of the firm's Healthcare & Life Sciences Group. He has extensive knowledge of the healthcare and life sciences industry, having worked with numerous clients in the provider, pharma, and device distribution sectors.

Cheairs has more than 25 years of experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions and strategic advisory assignments, including divestitures, financings, and capital raising. He is based in our Richmond office.

Education: M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and B.S. in Business Administration with Special Attainments in Commerce at Washington and Lee University
