Harris Williams advised Caputo Cheese, a portfolio company of Promus Equity Partners, on its sale to Tilia Holdings. Harris Williams was the exclusive sell-side advisor to the company. Founded in 1978, Caputo Cheese is a leading supplier of specialty cheeses, primarily serving the foodservice and food manufacturing sectors.

Caputo participates in a large, stable market with compelling consumer tailwinds. Investors are drawn to supply chain players in this segment who provide value-added solutions to a broad network of customers across channels. Caputo’s differentiated capabilities and customer-first focus created a solid foundation, and through its partnership with Promus Equity Partners, the platform has continued to gain scale.

As a critical supplier partner, Caputo leverages its comprehensive manufacturing and formulation expertise, global procurement network, affinage capabilities, in-house innovation engine, and flexible packaging solutions to service a diverse set of customers as a one-stop-shop for specialty cheese products.

With second-generation Natale Caputo at the helm, Caputo has a track record of partnering with foodservice operators and distributors and CPG brands to customize and formulate cheese ingredient solutions and foodservice products that meet specific customer and application needs. The company operates out of a well-invested facility in Chicago to serve its national customer base.

Caputo’s partnership with Tilia will support continued momentum in the business. Tilia’s deep experience investing in the food supply chain will allow Caputo to continue expanding its customer base and further strengthen its position as the leading cheese ingredient solution provider across channels.
